Dear Community, Nature Lovers, and Anyone Who’s Accidentally Caught Feelings for Majakaneng Hiking Trails,
We would like to sincerely apologize… for being a little too connected to the community since our very first day of operation in 2021. Honestly, we didn’t mean for it to happen like this—but here we are.
It all started with Hiking For Hope, an initiative aimed at raising at least 300 pairs of school shoes for less-privileged children in and around Majakaneng. We thought, “Let’s just help a bit.” Next thing you know, we’re emotionally invested, shoe-counting, and celebrating tiny feet with big dreams.
Then there’s the small matter of conservation. Sorry for caring so much about the Magaliesberg Mountains for clearing invasive alien plants, patrolling and removing snares, and refusing to look away when nature needs backup. We tried minding our business, but the environment kept calling
We must also apologize for starting a conservation club and recruiting teenagers and young people to help protect and preserve our environment. Apparently empowering youth and raising future environmental stewards is “doing too much.” Our bad.
And yes… by simply coming to hike at Majakaneng Hiking Trails, you indirectly support all of this. A portion of your hiking fees goes toward these initiatives—things like buying refusal bags so we can clean up illegal dumping sites and keep our mountains beautiful. We’re really sorry if your peaceful hike accidentally turned you into a quiet hero.
So once again, apologies for:
Caring deeply
Giving back consistently
Turning hikes into hope
And making community and conservation part of the trail experience
We promise to keep doing exactly this.
With muddy boots, full hearts, and zero regrets,
Majakaneng Hiking Trails
